Every year, the students of the Social Communications Media (SCM) department curate a meaningful set of experiences for our audiences to consume through our multimedia projects. This time around, we take you on an odyssey, where every stop has a story to tell—a journey that isn’t ordinary, voyaging through the worlds of our imagination, with every voice anchored to the ground. As SCMites, we are always in creator mode. We curate infinite story verses that create ripples across the media galaxy, while learning so much in the process. From the very beginning, we were spoken to not as students, but as media professionals. Whether gathering voices and diverse perspectives for our beat assignments, interviewing celebrities, learning about how brands communicate to the world, or making social media campaigns, we have come far in our journeys. And not to mention the seismic shifts in our personalities! At Marginalia, we delved into forgotten spaces, telling human stories with empathy and authenticity. Our writers amplified the voices of those from marginalized communities and overlooked professions, and our interview subjects were at the heart of every narrative we crafted. From interfaith lovers in India to firebrand sports journalists, from Golden Globe-winning film directors to beach cleaners who inspire resilience, we have interviewed them all. Most importantly, we learned to become storytellers, while not forgetting the human interest behind it all. Our Zine projects were immersive, ranging from an exploration of our identities to cultural explorations, seeing the city in color. As we look back, it was a year of hard work, but also a year of learning things about ourselves we didn’t know earlier. The artist’s journey is often driven from inward to outward, while keeping the process in mind. It is here that we have learned this delicate balancing act. For us, this year, every stop was decorated with stories, and our journey became the story—the essence of it all.
